Elise T.W. Laureau

Elise Laureau is involved with every facet of personal and family law. She is accessible, reliable, an effective communicator, and is closely involved with her clients. Elise has special affinity with (complex) child cases, removals, authority matters, maintenance, and (international) divorces.

As well as a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Notarial Law at Leiden University in 2020, Elise obtained her Master’s in Private Law from the VU University Amsterdam, with a thesis in the field of personal and family law. The main question posed in the thesis was whether a family lawyer or representative could help reduce conflict during divorces in which children are involved. After she had obtained her Master’s degree, Elise was involved in the pilot: ‘De Gezinsadvocaat’. In this pilot a duo, consisting of a family lawyer and a behavioural scientist, estimates at the start of the divorce what a family (parents and children) need to settle the divorce properly.

Elise was involved in various extracurricular activities during her time as a student. She gained legal work experience at various firms of lawyers and in the personal and family law department at the Leidse Rechtswinkel.

Elise Laureau has a listing in the Netherlands Bar register for the following principal and secondary fields of law:

  • Personal and family law (divorce, maintenance, visitation rights, international private law, parentage and legitimation)

A condition of her registration is that, every calendar year, she is required to obtain ten study credits for each of the main fields of law for which she is listed, in accordance with the standards of the Netherlands Bar.
